FCY offers a variety of special events for adults, kids and families. This includes one-day trainings as well as classes or specialized certifications.
Lifeguard Certification
TAKE THE CERTIFICATION COURSE AND BE REIMBURSED!
Course will be reimbursed 100% if you maintain 6 months of employment at FCY with continuous guard shifts. Email Lisa for more details.
Perfect for strong swimmers ages 15 and up who are proficient in:
• Front Crawl • Breaststroke • Side Stroke
• Elementary Back Stroke • Treading Water (legs only for 2 minutes)
• Swim 550 yards continually (waterfront/lifeguard)
• Swim 300 yards continually (lifeguard)
• Retrieve 10 lb brick from bottom of pool
LIFEGUARDING IN-PERSON SKILLS TRAINING (approximately 28 hours)
All participants must take the Prerequisite Swim Skill Evaluation prior to signing up for the course. Contact the Aquatics Director to schedule your eval with Lisa at [email protected]
Must attend all skills classes to receive certification.

Pro Boxing Skills: Training Camp for Women
Open to YMCA members and non-members. All levels welcome!
Join former competitive fighter and USA Boxing certified coach, Vanesa Chakour, for a progressive boxing class. Learn the fundamentals of boxing, including footwork, balance, coordination, agility, cardio, reflexes, defensive techniques, partner drills and pro-boxing techniques. Perfect for both beginners and experienced boxers looking to refine their skills. This class is for women only for a safe and empowering experience.
All students will need hand wraps and boxing gloves.
