We are once again thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity for our YMCA community to experience a day of fun and baseball at Fenway Park! In partnership with three New England YMCA Alliances and the Boston Red Sox, we invite you to be a part of YMCA Day at Fenway Park on Monday, April 20 at 11:15 am in Fenway Park!

This event promises to be a fantastic day out for the whole family, filled with unforgettable moments and the electric atmosphere of America’s favorite pastime. And here’s the best part—our members have exclusive access to discounted seats for just $41 per ticket!

Don’t miss this chance to cheer on the Red Sox alongside your fellow YMCA members and supporters. Whether you’re a die-hard baseball fan or simply looking for a fun outing, YMCA Day at Fenway Park is an event not to be missed.

Breath Workshop

Breath Workshop
Learn and practice various techniques of breathing for relaxation, energy and pain management. Guided imagery will assist you in this journey toward increased lung capacity and circulation.
Gail Connor graduated from Kripalu’s renowned Teacher Training Program in 2012 after many years as a high school teacher and has been a devoted practitioner since 1987. She taught Hatha Flow Yoga at the Franklin County Coop and in Studio B, as well as her own Sanctuary Yoga at the Second Congregational Church in Greenfield, and privately in her home.
At Kripalu she learned various breath techniques with differing results. Breath work continues to be an important part of her daily life, and she is excited to share her knowledge at the YMCA.

Hula Hooping Pop-Up!

Hooping is an all-encompassing flow art- engaging the body, mind and soul. Basic hooping strengthens core muscles while enhancing balance, coordination and grace. We’ll work on different stances to help ease and open the lower back, hip and leg muscles. You’ll learn to hoop all around and on all parts of the body. Experience hoops of different sizes and weights, their speed and how they accommodate the use of the arms, torso and legs. This class is for all levels of hoopers. Shenandoah specializes in teaching people to hoop for the first time and adding new and advanced moves for seasoned hoopers. The hoop is an instrument to take you out of your head and into your body, easing tension, increasing joy, peace and self confidence. A moving meditation, you’ll leave feeling centered, strengthened and embodied.

Hoops included, personal hoops welcome.

Shenandoah has been hooping for 25 years and brings articulate and patient instruction helping you to move in ways you never imagined. She is honored and excited to share hoops and their benefits with all.

LIFEGUARDING WITH BLENDED LEARNING
Perfect for strong swimmers ages 15 and up who are proficient in:
• Front Crawl • Breaststroke • Side Stroke
• Elementary Back Stroke • Treading Water (legs only for 2 minutes)
• Swim 550 yards continually (waterfront/lifeguard)
• Swim 300 yards continually (lifeguard)
• Retrieve 10 lb brick from bottom of pool

BLENDED LEARNING (approximately 6 hours. MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE FIRST IN-PERSON SKILL SESSION) 

LIFEGUARDING IN-PERSON SKILLS TRAINING (approximately 22 hours) 

All lifeguard candidates must take the lifeguard prerequisite swim prior to signing up for the lifeguard course. Please register for this under Special Events: Clinics, Training & Certs. – Lifeguard Prerequisite Swim Evaluation

She has studied Zen for over 40 years and has been teaching yoga and meditation in the Pioneer Valley since 1972. She is the author of Sit with Less Pain: Gentle Yoga for Meditators (Wisdom Publications 2014).

Women's Boxing Foundations

Open to YMCA members and non-members. All levels welcome!

Join former competitive fighter and USA Boxing certified coach, Vanesa Chakour, for progressive boxing classes. Learn fundamentals of pro-style boxing, including footwork, balance, coordination, agility, cardio, reflexes, defensive techniques, and partner drills. Open to both beginners and experienced boxers looking to refine their skills. These classes are for women only for a safe and empowering experience.
