Family & Youth Programming

Our Youth and Family programs provide opportunities for families to gather and play as a family unit while meeting other families. We also offer options for children to be watched in a safe space while you exercise. Most activities are free or reduced cost with a YMCA Family Membership.

Family Swim Guidelines
For families who wish to spend time swimming together in the FCY pool.

Family Swim is open to all members who are on a Family Membership. Youth Members (children only) are allowed to bring one adult with them to Family Swims.

FCY Lifeguard judgment is final – they have complete discretion to ensure the safety of members, staff, and guests.

  • All swimmers must take a shower before entering the pool or spa.
  • Pool schedule may change without notice due to thunderstorms, winter weather, mechanical problems, and other unforeseen issues.
  • Swimmers with chin-length hair must wear it pulled back or wear a swim cap.
  • Appropriate swim attire is required. No t-shirts, cut-offs or street clothes may be worn.
  • Children must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times
  • Children 13 and under will be asked to take a swim test.
  • Parents/guardians of children 13 and under need to be in the pool area.
  • Children 8 and under require a parent/guardian in water.
  • Swimmers requiring a floatation device of any kind, weak non-swimmers, and those who decline or do not pass the swim test are strongly suggested to wear a lifejacket and must stay in the shallow end and have a parent/guardian in the water within arms reach of the swimmer at all times.
  • The lifeguard has the discretion to ask anyone to take the swim test before swimming in the deep end of the pool.
  • Everyone must exit the water while the lifeguard is performing a swim test unless there are two lifeguards on duty.
  • Noodles may be used. One noodle per person, one person per noodle. Water weights, kickboards, and flippers may NOT be used during family swims.
  • Please remove street shoes and walk at all times
  • No spitting, splashing, dunking friends or horseplay.
  • Throwing children/having a child on your back or shoulders is NOT allowed.
  • Jumping and diving are allowed only where the word “DEEP” is in the jumping area: (parent-assisted jumps can take place in the shallow end only. No dives of any kind are allowed in less than a 10 feet depth)
  • Jumps- Must be straightforward, not towards the side of the pool. NO flips, spins, or backwards jumps
  • Dives- front dives only in deep end.
  • After jumping, swim to the side that you jumped from or under the ropes. DO NOT swim back toward the jumping area
  • Please refrain from swimming and or playing in the jumping area
